Wonky and Woot-tastic

Woo hoo it's Wednesday!

Wonky:
    - This Texas weather might seriously be the death of me. The cold fronts and rain are making me want to go into a medically induced coma until Spring.
    - There may actually be something to this whole gluten free thing. I've eaten gluten-ful things a few times just to see what would happen (also I was too lazy to make a salad) and I felt really queasy afterwards. I was kind of hoping it wouldn't work and i could go back to eating normal foods again.
Alumni Hall from the
University of Southern Mississippi
    - There was a pretty bad tornado in South Mississippi a few days ago. It destroys a lot of homes and businesses, including my aunt's home and it did A LOT of damage to Southern Miss'. Thankfully, as far as I know, no one was killed but a lot of people have no homes.
    - Ryan, or anyone that works at the company Ryan works at, has not gotten paid. And no one knows when they will.

Woot-tastic:
    - I've been rewatching all the seasons of Friends lately. They really should bring that show back.
    - I found these REALLY yummy gluten free chocolate chip cookies at Sprouts. They're pretty much amazeballs.

    - We finally have some green grass! Amazing what a little rain can do.
    - I am about to go make my "test run" for my Valentine's Day supper. Mom is my guinea pig, hopefully she survives the experiment. I'll tell y'all Saturday what I'm making. Don't want to ruin the surprise. Wish me luck and pray no one gets food poisoning... or that we don't have to order pizza for dinner.

Well, that's all for this weeks Southern Soapbox. Sorry it's so short! Happy almost Valentine's Day!

Fashion Friday:Boots and a Blazer

This is a bit more casual but would definitely work for Valentines Day.

Boots and a Blazer

I would maybe do a red top and black boots instead if you're going to wear this for V-Day but that's just me. Also, some dressier jewelry wouldn't be a bad idea for an evening out. I originally created this as an idea for just going to lunch or something like that but it could EASILY be dressed up. You could also do some cute little ballet flats with this if you're not a heel nut like I am.

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox for today! Are y'all tired of "fashion week" yet? Tomorrow is Wonky and Woot-tastic Wednesday and then I will "reveal" what I'm going to be wearing/doing for Valentine's Day. Don't get to excited, we're not a very out-of-the-box couple. So, see y'all tomorrow!

Fashion Friday:For My Mom

Again, no. It's not Friday but I'm trying to get as many ideas out there as I can in preparation for Valentine's Day. Also, I found all these super cute pieces and made a ton of cute outfits out of them. I made this one specifically with my mom in mind. Check it out.

For My Mom

Everything here, except the shoes, comes from a store my mom frequents, Dress Barn. I love the color of the top and the creme cardigan. It's perfect for going to tea at the Arboretum (which is wear my dad is taking her for Valentine's Day).

Well that's my Southern Soapbox! I hope you like the outfit Mumsie and I hope y'all are able to use it for inspiration too! I'll be having more outfits through out the week so if you have a request send it my way. You can either leave a comment telling me that you want something with pants, skirt, dress OR if you already have a particular item in mind, send me a link and I'll make an outfit out of it!

Fashion Friday: Black and White Valentine

As previously promised, a second Valentine's Day outfit! This is actually VERY similar to what I think I'm going to wear. I have been really obsessed with lace lately. I'm pretty sure the last three articles of clothing have been lace. And dresses.

Black and White Valentine

I adore this dress, which is good because I have a black dress that looks almost identical to this one. I love these shoes, I love the earrings, and the ring (also all good things, as I created this outfit and it would be really dumb if I didn't like these things). This dress just SCREAMS classy, sexy, sophisticated lady. It's tight, yes, but it's still sophisticated! I ADORE this dress! It's perfect for a romantic dinner and then followed up by going to some cozy little spot to share a dessert. Or in my case, I'll look super sophisticated and sexy going through the Taco Bell drive thru (I'm a broke college student, I'm lucky to eat at all). If you're wondering what the deal with the random head is, that would be Nina Dobrev. She's pretty much amazing in every aspect of the word, but in this case we're focusing on her hair. It's to die for. Those soft curls would be perfect for this dress. Now, if only my hair would actually hold a curl. Pair that hair with a beautiful nude lip, some stunning smokey (but not over the top) eye shadow, and you are going to be the hottest looking lady at Taco Bell.... I mean... Three Forks (which I'm pretty sure I couldn't even afford a water there).

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox! I hope you enjoyed this dress as much as I did! More Valentine's outfits to come and here is a link to yesterday's Valentine's outfit! Leave a comment if you have a request!

Fashion Friday: Pink and Black Valentine's Day

I know, it's not Friday. So what the heck am I doing posting a Fashion FRIDAY post? So glad you asked! I decided that since Valentine's Day is just around the corner, and by just around the corner I mean it's a week away! That's SEVEN DAYS people! I'm not panicking... I know exactly what I'm going to wear.... and I totally have a present ready and wrapped to give to Ryan. Ok, you all might want to step away from the computer as God may strike me down with lightening at any moment. I'm TOTALLY freaking out over here! I think I know what I'm going to wear. I have NO idea what we're actually going to do and as far as a present... haha, ya, I'm up a creek with that one. Anyone else having this issue? Well if your issue is on what to wear I might be able to help you out (yes, I know it's ironic that I don't know what I'm going to wear but i am telling you what you should wear. It's hilarious). Now that we've all laughed at the irony of the situation, check out the outfit I made.

Pink and Black

I like the femininity of the pink top and that it can be paired with pants or a skirt. I decided to do a top that would work with pants and skirts because, while I LOVE heels and skirts, most of the people (especially the old people hehe) in my family don't like heels. They're cave people, really. Anywho, the jewelry dresses the outfit up for a nice dinner with the hubby (or in my case my eternal boyfriend). My mother has a thing about her arms not being covered so I threw in a little sweater, or "cropped cardigan" is apparently the technical term. It's pretty warm here in Dallas but would still be nice to cover up those arms when it starts getting chilly after the sun goes down. Enjoy snuggling up with your Valentine, share some yummy dessert, and remember why you fell in love (and then right it down so you can reread it later on when he does something stupid. We all know it's going to happen. just call me Miss Brightside.).

Well that's the first Southern Soapbox Valentine's Day outfit I have! Stay tuned for tomorrow's little outfit I created (link here). If you have any questions/comments/concerns/requests etc leave a comment! Would love to know what you think and I'm always looking for someone to make outfits for!

Wonky and Woot-tastic Wednesday

Wonky:
    - I have managed to avoid getting sick up until now but my immune system has finally surrendered. I feel like death so forgive me if this post is a little... off....
    - There is an article, or articles, going around talking about hedgehogs carrying salmonella. I appreciate the one person who KINDLY sent me the article, all you other people that are insinuating that me and my little girl are "dirty" need to shut up. SO to set the record straight so my ONE nice friend that was concerned and all you other annoying people out there will stop bugging me about it.... hedgehogs are not the only carriers of salmonella. Your sweet little dog or cat can just as easily, if not more easily, be a carrier too. I don't know about your dog/cat but my hedgehog gets a bath AT LEAST once a week, if not more often. My dog gets a bath when he starts smelling bad. Also, when's the last time you licked the beater or bowl while making cookies? Yup, you're gunna die and it will have nothing to do with a hedgehog. BUT to the one person that was being nice... thank you for your concern, it is appreciated :).
    - Totally over this up and down weather.
    - If you keep up with me on Facebook or Twitter (because I was ranting in both places) then you know that my old phone stop receiving text messages. It would send them, connect to Facebook (so that I could rant about it not getting texts), make phone calls... just not receive texts. I called AT&T's customer service and after lying to me a few times they ended up saying it would take 72 hours for my issue to even be looked at. I ended up going into one of their device service centers and got a totally different model phone. I had the LG Nitro (terrible phone, don't get it) and now I have the HTC One X (so far so good). But you should know the lady from customer service told me that they would only replace my old Nitro with a new one. Well, she lied.
    - The commercials for the Super Bowl were total crap. Just sayin'. Also, Beyonce sucked too.
Woot-tastic:
    - My adorable nephew and awesome sister are walking through the door as we speak. They're coming over for dinner (no idea what we're eating though).
    - Le Peep offers a gluten free menu! I had their waffle and it was REALLY good!! They have their menu online with a lot of options!
    - My little girl is so adorable. She was watching Friends with me because I wasn't feeling well.

    - It was warm enough this past Sunday to wear REALLY cute shoes! I miss my cute shoes during the winter.

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox for today! Thanks for reading! Leave some love, share with your friends etc!
