Fashion Friday: Just a Little Cardigan

It's that awkward "season" in Texas where it's 80 degrees one day and 60 degrees the next, which makes planning things a pain in the hind quarters (because the forecast is almost always wrong)! This is the reason why I don't put away "summer clothes" when it's "winter". Yay for Texas weather!

Cozy Cardigan

I must say, I quite like this outfit. One should hope so since I'm the one that put it together, but you know what I mean. The cardigan would be perfect for those days when spring tries to peak it's head around to see what's up. I had a hard time choosing between this pink colored bag and a black one but I was getting tired of black. A grey bag could be really cute with this too but I couldn't find one online that I liked. Toms... how I love Toms. And yet I still don't own a pair. What's up with that?! For those days that start off cool and turn rather warm you could trade the tank top for a short sleeve shirt. Then you could ditch the cardigan as it got warmer! Layers people, use them to your advantage!

Alrighty, that's my simply Fashion Friday Southern Soapbox (I should start abbreviating that! FFSS?). I hope you enjoyed! Stay warm, or cool.... who knows.

Fashion Friday: Mellow Yellow

It's nearly fall in most of the US, but not in Texas. It's still HOT! 103 degrees hot. Miserably hot. So, while the rest of you northern folk begin to bundle up, I will still be posting short sleeved outfits, with the occasional light sweater, probably until sometime around Christmas, maybe even after that. Welcome to Texas, where summer never actually ends.

I love POPS of color! Especially yellow. It's so happy. I used to own yellow shoes, but then my cat peed on them. These yellow shoes are SO CUTE and the yellow hand bag from Macy's is the perfect size (big). I actually own this Old Navy top, but in a different color/pattern. It's really cute with shorts and sandals too AND I believe Old Navy is having a sale right now! The jewelry is very special to me, as I sell it on behalf of Haiti's Jewels on my store. It's GREAT jewelry made by a company in Haiti, supplying local villagers with jobs. If it's warm where you are (or in my case miserably hot) you could easily do black shorts, or even brown shorts instead of skinny jeans. If it's cooler where you are (you luck lucky duck) add a little cardigan to stay warm!

Well, that's my very yellow Southern Soapbox, hope you enjoyed!!!

Fashion Friday: The Eyelet Skirt

Spring is in the air (for now)! I have several different skirts that I have been DYING to wear but every time I actually shave my legs it turns cold again. Maybe I should stop shaving (ew) so spring will finally stick around. Anywho, on to the outfit!

The Eyelet Skirt

Minus the jewelry and the pair of sandals, I own this entire outfit. I just haven't gotten to wear it yet because I keep shaving my legs the weather keeps getting cold. The skirt is SO cute and if you wanted to you could take the belt off and use it with other outfits (you just have to cut a couple of strings, no biggie). I would totally wear this with wedges or flats, depending on what I was doing/where I was going. We all know I love my heels, but I understand that some of y'all prefer cute flats and this could totally work for that too (although heels are almost always better, just sayin'). The shirt, skirt and bracelet are from Kohls, the purse is from Avenue, the wedges are from Steve Madden (and are on MAJOR sale!), flats are from DSW, and the necklace is from Delias so EVERYTHING in this outfit can be easily obtained if you live in the states. If you don't, well that really sucks for you and maybe you should consider moving. The best part about this outfit? The purse is the most expensive thing and is listed for $40, but I actually got mine on sale for $25.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to wear this tomorrow for Ryan's birthday dinner but I have to shave my legs to wear it. So, if there's a sudden change in the forecast you can bet that my legs are as smooth as a babies bottom!

Well, now that we've thoroughly discussed this outfit and my uncanny ability to change the weather, that's my Southern Soapbox! Hope you liked it!

Fashion Friday: Easter Sunday

I don't know if it's a "southern thing" or if everyone does this but around Easter time my mom always took my sister and I shopping for our Easter dresses. You always bought a dress for Easter, and you pretty much only wore it once. I still buy an Easter outfit to wear on Sunday morning but now I actually make sure I can wear it for more than just that one occasion.

Easter Sunday

I LOVE this yellow maxi skirt! It's so flowy and colorful! I did have a hard time deciding what to do for a top. Since the bottom is SO colorful I thought it best to keep the top very simple and clean and add some more pop with jewelry and shoes. I think the turquoise color looks really nice with the yellow. The bag... I actually just got that bag today! It was 30% off and was already REALLY cheap! WOOT!

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox. Enjoy your Easter and remember to thank God for sending His son to give the ultimate sacrifice and grant us eternal life. What a wonderful gift He has given us!

Fashion Friday: Green and brown

I really wish our weather would make up its mind. Hot cold hot cold hot cold. PICK ONE! Last week I was wearing shorts and tank tops, this week I'm trying not to freeze while I'm wearing a Parka. Ok, maybe I'm being a tad bit dramatic with the whole Parka thing but you get my point. This outfit is perfect for fall or spring. It gives just enough warmth for those 50-60 degree days (or in my case 60-70 degree days because I'm a total wiener when it comes to the cold) but not so much that you'll cook inside.

Green and brown for fall

I LOVE this green vest! It's so cute! The bag is a tad bit on the small side, or at least for me it is, but I love all the pockets and I actually own those boots so, of course, I think they're FAB! As my sisters would say (and believe me, it pains me that she says this), this outfit is totes adorbs. Thank you Maegan, now you are corrupting the integrity of my blog with your horribly disgusting slang.

Well, that's it for this fashionable Southern Soapbox! Leave a comment, share it on Facebook, pin it on Pinterest, tweet it on Twitter, tumble it on Tumbler and whatever else there is left to do with it (could you gram it on Instagram or is that taking this a little too far?).

Fashion Friday:Boots and a Blazer

This is a bit more casual but would definitely work for Valentines Day.

Boots and a Blazer

I would maybe do a red top and black boots instead if you're going to wear this for V-Day but that's just me. Also, some dressier jewelry wouldn't be a bad idea for an evening out. I originally created this as an idea for just going to lunch or something like that but it could EASILY be dressed up. You could also do some cute little ballet flats with this if you're not a heel nut like I am.

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox for today! Are y'all tired of "fashion week" yet? Tomorrow is Wonky and Woot-tastic Wednesday and then I will "reveal" what I'm going to be wearing/doing for Valentine's Day. Don't get to excited, we're not a very out-of-the-box couple. So, see y'all tomorrow!

Fashion Friday:For My Mom

Again, no. It's not Friday but I'm trying to get as many ideas out there as I can in preparation for Valentine's Day. Also, I found all these super cute pieces and made a ton of cute outfits out of them. I made this one specifically with my mom in mind. Check it out.

For My Mom

Everything here, except the shoes, comes from a store my mom frequents, Dress Barn. I love the color of the top and the creme cardigan. It's perfect for going to tea at the Arboretum (which is wear my dad is taking her for Valentine's Day).

Well that's my Southern Soapbox! I hope you like the outfit Mumsie and I hope y'all are able to use it for inspiration too! I'll be having more outfits through out the week so if you have a request send it my way. You can either leave a comment telling me that you want something with pants, skirt, dress OR if you already have a particular item in mind, send me a link and I'll make an outfit out of it!

Fashion Friday: Black and White Valentine

As previously promised, a second Valentine's Day outfit! This is actually VERY similar to what I think I'm going to wear. I have been really obsessed with lace lately. I'm pretty sure the last three articles of clothing have been lace. And dresses.

Black and White Valentine

I adore this dress, which is good because I have a black dress that looks almost identical to this one. I love these shoes, I love the earrings, and the ring (also all good things, as I created this outfit and it would be really dumb if I didn't like these things). This dress just SCREAMS classy, sexy, sophisticated lady. It's tight, yes, but it's still sophisticated! I ADORE this dress! It's perfect for a romantic dinner and then followed up by going to some cozy little spot to share a dessert. Or in my case, I'll look super sophisticated and sexy going through the Taco Bell drive thru (I'm a broke college student, I'm lucky to eat at all). If you're wondering what the deal with the random head is, that would be Nina Dobrev. She's pretty much amazing in every aspect of the word, but in this case we're focusing on her hair. It's to die for. Those soft curls would be perfect for this dress. Now, if only my hair would actually hold a curl. Pair that hair with a beautiful nude lip, some stunning smokey (but not over the top) eye shadow, and you are going to be the hottest looking lady at Taco Bell.... I mean... Three Forks (which I'm pretty sure I couldn't even afford a water there).

Well, that's my Southern Soapbox! I hope you enjoyed this dress as much as I did! More Valentine's outfits to come and here is a link to yesterday's Valentine's outfit! Leave a comment if you have a request!
